The New New Camp Courage.

2009 Camp Courage is going to rock.

As 2008 draws to its close, I am looking back on the Camp Courage workshop I did this year in the atrium of the Flynt Building in Beverly Hills. It was an awesome group which produced amazing results! Camp Courage always attracts the best people. I love doing this group and I can’t believe I wasn’t able to do more sessions. But as of January 2009, Camp Courage will experience some changes that include more sessions throughout the year!

I am a bit Camp Courage obbsessed right now and I want to keep you up to date and informed as the group develops. I am so excited about all of the changes and the growth that Camp Courage is undergoing. The most exciting change is the addition of my good friend and associate, Jennifer Matthews who is a transformational and intuitive healer.  Jennifer is going to bring her special magic to our group. If you don’t know Jennifer or have not worked with her yet, you are in for a great surprise! She is a lifechanger.

Another exciting change is our new location.

Last night, we confirmed with Noah Levine that we will be holding Camp Courage at  his facility – Against The Stream Buddhist Meditation Center .

I will be posting more updates and information about the 2009 group as it develops, but know two things:

1. You are invited.

2. Camp Courage09 is going to rule!

Accepting Change

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”
Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol - we should all be animated

Andy Warhol - we should all be animated

Accepting Change
Change: we crave it… we believe it will heal our wounds…we resist it with every cell in our body.

It seems like I am always the last one to change formats. I loved my albums so much but had to give them up for the 8-track…cassette tapes where great (I had so many of them) so I resisted CD’s as long as I could. Then it was Friendster and now it’s Facebook. They stopped making Polaroid film and now I have to rip all of my music onto an external hard drive. Why can’t things just stay the same????

Can you imagine if everything stayed the same? Can you imagine if electricity was never invented or if the President of the United States’ term lasted forever?

Thank God for change, right? If change is so great then why does it cause us so much stress?

It doesn’t have to….all you have to do is welcome it and go with the flow.

Easier said than done?

Use Change to your advantage You cannot change what you don’t accept.

Change is necessary. Change is constant and by nature; it often gets worse before it gets better.

Whether you accept it or not, change is here and it’s here to stay, so you might as well get down with it. You will find change much easier to navigate when you are in the flow. Those of us who accept change will have a much easier time during this transition than those who are in resistance.

Remember, they are called growing pains because of the fear and discomfort. Remind yourself that everything is temporary, take comfort in the fact that you are growing.

Coaching tips

Re-organize by courageously eliminating the old.

Don’t be afraid to let go.

Clear the space in your mind.

Upgrade your attitude, improve your relationships, heal your spirit or just clean out your closet or your CD collection; do whatever you are ready for.

Take Away Points
  • Learn to let go.

The old systems / formats have to go so the new can arrive.

  • Refuse fear.

It’s impossible to make good choices when you choose from fear.

  • Be in abundance.

When you come from abundance, you are not afraid of loosing out.

  • Be fluid.

Put your trust in the universe.

  • Cause the right effect.

Be clear on the change you are asking for, your intention is powerful.

  • Practice patience.

When you are fluid and in trust, you know it’s only a matter of time.

By aligning yourself with the deep knowledge that you are supported on this journey, you will grow and change into a stronger, more knowledgeable, higher version of yourself.

Don’t panic – make art.

In my last post I wrote about turning fear into faith, the response I got was somewhat overwhelming, so many calls and e-mails from people telling their story of how they where having to set their dreams aside just to survive. Keeping up with the bills has suddenly become a goal. At the time of that post, we had no idea of the upcoming financial crisis. I thought people were in fear then and then BAM…… fear city sets in.

The world is in a financial freak out.

I want to help you re-frame this.

The old systems are failing; they have to break down so the new systems can be built.
This is not the time to panic, when we become negative and fearful we create more negativity and fear.
Here is your challenge, be in abundance and trust, turn your fear into faith. The universe is supporting you, the more you are able to unplug from the fear and come from a knowingness that you are taken care of the more this will be your truth.

When things get out of control, they have a tendency to come crashing down just like the housing market. The greed on Wall Street and Main Street was in need of an attitude adjustment, the incompetence in the auto industry needed to be outed. All is exactly as it should be.

It is time for us to assess our values and re-align with a different reality. Where you really trying to keep up with Paris & Puff Daddy is bottle service fun? Should you go out and buy a house knowing that it’s a stretch and you aren’t going to be able to make the mortgage in 3-5 years but you will just cross that bridge when you get to it. This is not a financial plan; it’s a financial nightmare
Let’s look on the bright side, what bright side you say?

Come on, this glass is half full.

What is the upside to the financial crisis?
1. If you have money it’s the perfect time to buy stocks, houses and cars.

If you don’t have any money, theres still good news….

2. Recessions are great news for art; look at the past, (NYC in the 70’s) what are the greatest moments in creativity? Most have been driven by hard times. When the going gets tough, the creative get going. Channel your fear and anger into your medium, go deep, you will shock yourself with the results.

2. People are banning together in community. We have become so disconnected from each other, unless you have been consciously building your supports, you are probably floating alone. Now is the time to connect with like-minded friends and associates to talk about how you can support each other.

3. Reassess and reconnect with what’s really important to you. Now is the time to slow your roll and asses your priorities it’s good for the environment, it’s good for your spirit.

4. Create and use that budget you have been procrastinating on for the past five years. If not now then when?

5. You now have the opportunity to unplug from the fear and connect to your strength.

F-panic/make art.

Turning Fear Into Faith

Whether it’s the recession, rising gas & food prices,  or the upcoming US elections, things are slow and it seems as if the nation is in the grip of fear.  Fear of the slow down, fear of stagnation, fear of change, fear of not having enough, fear of losing what you do have and most definitely a fear of not getting what you want.

FEAR FEAR FEAR what a horrible place to live your life from.
You know I have a saying at WCC and it’s “F***fear”.

Unfortunately, it seems that many of us are deeply connected to our fears.  So what do we do?  We bitch about it, we complain.  We voice loudly over and over again exactly what is wrong, with no solution in sight.  When we slip into this pattern we are not only reiterating and empowering (multiple times a day) the things we want the least, we are drawing them closer to us, making them real and keeping our fears alive.

I strongly encourage you to make the commitment to turn your fear into faith.  I don’t care what you believe in as long as you believe. Yes, things may be slow right now but this too shall pass.

I’m not proposing blind faith, I’m talking about a proactive faith, the kind that motivates and creates solutions. Have faith in yourself, have faith in the universe, have faith in your support system or your higher power.  Have faith that the low times are here to balance out the high times, and that if you are down you won’t be down for long.  This is the lull before the surge. Change is immanent and just on the horizon so instead of energizing the problem, realize your own desires by energizing the solution. Get creative, and get involved.  Refuse to play the same fear-based tapes over and over again; your tapes become your truths.  You have the opportunity to initiate change.  But, not from fear, from strength.  I think Gandhi said it best when he said “be the change you want to see in this world”.

Now is the time to get clear on what you want and to go for it!

You are a powerful creator manifesting reality with every thought, feeling and word.  You know the saying be careful what you wish for, It’s true.

B Your Own Valentine!

Coaching Theme of the Month:Photobucket

When you love yourself no one can knock you off your course. There is no better accessory than self-confidence.It’s February and we are surrounded by heightened expectations and Hallmark love. It doesn’t matter if you buy into the hype or not, we are all impacted by our own concepts of love and everything that goes along with it. Many people come to me for coaching because they are dissatisfied with their love lives. They feel stuck in a rut and they are tired of eating dinner alone and spending Friday nights with their television. The disconnect is that they think some great person is going to magically appear and make it all better for them. That might work in the short term, but once the glow wears off (and it always does) they are right back where they started, and it’s even worse because now they are hurt or pissed off because they didn’t get their needs met and are in the process of a crappy break up.I’m not trying to be a valentine bummer, if you are brimming with self-confidence and working from attraction, then please forward this e-mail to someone who needs it more than you do! However, if you think your happiness and well being is someone else’s responsibility then you are on the path to disappointment. You are not going to attract the healthy lasting meaningful love that you desire unless and until you get your relationship with yourself pulled together in a deep and meaningful way. I mean, who wants to start a relationship filled with the silent expectation that they are responsible for the other person’s happiness and well being? Talk about a handicap! You are doomed from the start. Stop looking for someone to fix you. When you fix you, you can attract someone really great into your life. Here’s the shift. Refuse to spend another Valentines Day feeling sorry for yourself, spend this Valentines day and the rest of the year, giving yourself love. Ask yourself, how can I improve my relationship with me? What can I do to empower myself? We create this shift by getting really clear on what we need to feel good about ourselves.Tune into your deepest feelings, what is it that makes you happy? Not new shoes or new guitar happy, that’s too fleeting. I’m talking a deep and lasting happy, one that’s filled with contentment and satisfaction. Commit to a long term investment in your relationship with self. When you like yourself, when you love yourself, when you are happy with who you are, you become brave, you get comfortable in your own skin and the irony is that you become immensely attractive to other people because they now want what you have. Now your attracting, not seeking. So if you don’t have a Valentine this Feb. 14th (or even if you do) then dust yourself off and do for you what you what you need to be happy. It’s not silly! Take yourself out, treat yourself to something special, show yourself some love, but really observe it. Let it sink in. It’s all about needs, and if your needs aren’t getting met you have no one but yourself to blame. It’s not the other guy, this ones on you. Take some self-responsibility and get yourself happy, It’s not just a sexy look, it’s an important part of your personal foundation.Internet phenomenon, Chris Crocker, got it right in his video blog.  Watch his self-love how-to here http://www.westcoastcoaching.com. I would post it here, but am not yet video-capable thru wordpress!!Thank you for reading!!

WCC Theme for January ‘O8: Try! (just a little bit harder)

Coaching Theme of the Month:

Photobucket

Happy New Year and Welcome 2008!

Now is the time to TRY (just a little bit harder)!

Generally speaking I am not a big fan of the word TRY. It falls in line with passive words like should, might, can’t, and it’s hard. Try is one of those words that sounds to a life coach the way that a cry of “shark!” must sound to a lifeguard. People don’t try. They either do or they don’t. Simply put, there’s no trying when you’re looking to effect positive change in your life, but when you tack the word harder on the end it seems to take on a different meaning. Perhaps it’s ok to try harder. In fact, it’s probably a really good idea. I would like to challenge my readers and clients to put their feet on the accelerators and TRY HARDER!

This month’s theme is inspired by the fierce passion of Janis Joplin. I was poking around on Youtube recently and I saw Janis giving this intro to her song Try ( just a little bit harder). Watch the video on http://www.westcoastcoaching.com to check it out. Although I don’t agree with depending on some guy/girl to make you happy, I do agree that if you aren’t achieving what you want in this life at this time that you need to upgrade your hustle and try even if it’s just a little bit harder. Sometimes the smallest tweak can make the big difference. Other times, it’s time to try a whole lot harder. Take action! If you are in it to win it you’ve got to begin it!!!

I’m including a list of the ways that I am going to Try (just a little bit harder) this month and this year. Let me know how YOU intend to Try (just a little bit harder)! Leave a comment here on my blog, send me an e-mail at tc@westcoastcoaching.com, or if you want some professional support while you are trying harder, book a coaching session and we can rock it together.

Schedule a coaching session by calling 323-944-0966.

This month and throughout the year, I am Trying HARDER to:

– remember people’s names (when I meet them at parties)
– call my grandmother more
– let go of judgment and criticism
– push my comfort zone
– not make excuses, be lazy, or isolate myself
– perform at higher level
– play BIG!
